Benefits of Taekwondo: A Teenage Testimonial
Updated: Feb 7, 2018
Are there any Benefits to doing Taekwondo? Now, that question seems straight forward. You're moving so of course there are, but the thing many people don’t realize is the emotional effects and character building involved with this sport.
Personally, the sport has helped me quite a bit. To many Taekwondo do is just a sport, but to the most dedicated, it is a way of life.
Taekwondo strengthens you both physically and mentally. As with any workout while doing Taekwondo your brain releases positive endorphins. These can brighten your mood and help keep you in a good mood, along with relieving stress. Taekwondo also can improve your motor skills, help tone your body and teach you valuable self-defense techniques. On top of that, it can also help you emotionally. It can help build confidence, and teach you discipline. Plus, you make great friends and bonds with others.
For me Taekwondo has been extremely helpful. Before Taekwondo, I was in a dark place, and I didn’t have a lot of self-confidence or motivation. Even when I started it was hard for me. I didn’t think I was very enthusiastic. It was hard for me to get into anything I didn’t think I could do perfectly immediately. I learned about myself and Taekwondo helped me get self-esteem and motivation towards whatever I was doing. I have also made a lot of friends because of this. As well as getting over my fear of failure. To me Taekwondo is more than just a sport it’s a way of life, and it helped me become a better person.
