The UWTA's First Virtual Tournament
Recently, many businesses have had to adapt to the new quarantined reality, and the UWTA has done just that. For the first time ever, the UWTA is hosting a virtual tournament. It’s a great way to keep training despite being at home. The tournament is May 1st - 2nd and all you have to do is perform your poomsae in front of a computer so you can be judged on it. This would be a great first tournament for anyone that is new to Taekwondo since there won’t be as much pressure and performance anxiety. I was nervous at my first tournament since it was new and unfamiliar and everyone I had to compete against was sitting right next to me. Many other students can relate, but now they are excited to perform and fight with all of their strength. Now, we can put our skills to the test from the comfort of our own backyards. Even though it’s not the same as competing against others in person, it is a great way to practice performing at a high level while being judged. If you haven’t competed in a tournament before, now’s your opportunity to represent Auburn Martial Arts right out of your own home.
